Best Corded Cordless Phone
The Best of Both Worlds

A corded cordless phone is the answer for anyone who appreciates the freedom of being able to use a phone while on the move, but is concerned about losing contact during a power outage.

Corded connections enable users dial out and receive calls even when the lights go out. They also provide the security of a corded connection. DECT 6.0 phones make electronic eavesdropping difficult, but not impossible. So why not get the best of both worlds?

Top 3 Corded Cordless Phones

Panasonic KX-TG6672B

Panasonic already had the top selling corded cordless phone (KX-TG1062M) when it released KX-TG6672B. The key difference is that it's a DECT 6.0 Plus phone. In other words it's built on an enhanced implementation of DECT 6.0 technology that provides a bundle of features exclusive to the latest Panasonic cordless phones. To list a few of these features:

  • silent mode
  • call blocking
  • talking caller ID
  • eco-mode
  • extended range and
  • crystal clear call clarity

It also also a feature called Power Backup Operation - that enables a cordless phone system to run off the battery power of a charged handset. At the time of writing no other brand of phone offers this feature.

The KX-TG6672B is the benchmark in this niche. There is nothing is even remotely close to it in term of features and performance.

Panasonic KX-TG1062M

The Panasonic KX-TG1062M is the tried and proven option. It was released in early 2009 and is still head and shoulders better than anything available from other manufacturers. It was one of the first DECT 6.0 phones to support call blocking and the use AAA batteries instead of battery packs. Like all Panasonic phones there are also headset jacks, belt clips and other small features that thousands of users can't live without.

Both of the above are expandable up to six stations which is more than adequate for most users, but less than available on alternatives including ATT phones.

AT&T CL84100

There are several AT&T cordless phones that also rate well and are excellent value for money. They are manufactured under license by Vtech and have much in common with Vtech phones.

The CL84100 phones are generic DECT 6.0 phones with digital answering machines and little in the way of bells and whistles.

When compared with Panasonic corded cordless phones the ATT options are significantly cheaper but more expandable (up to 12 handsets). Not everyone needs a state of the art cordless phone and for them an ATT phone is an ideal solution. They are reliable and in most situations completely trouble free.

On the other hand if extended cordless phone range, exceptional call clarity, silent mode, talking caller ID ... are important the Panasonic phone is definitely the way to go.

DECT 6.0 Phones

The latest corded cordless phones are all DECT 6.0 phones. and address a number of issues that handicapped earlier cordless phone technologies.

  • Little if any interference from WiFi and other electronic gadgets.
  • Encrypted communication makes electronic eavesdropping difficult if not impossible.
  • Extended stand-by / talk-times beyond the needs of most users.
  • Excellent range and call clarity.

There is even more good news - these phones are not only better but also cheaper than their predecessors of a few years ago.
